Hunters of the Red Moon

Author: Marion Zimmer Bradley

The rules of the hunt were cruel but fair - as laid down by ancient tradition. The 'sacred prey' - intelligent beings kidnapped from far-off scattered planets - were given a sporting chance. A vast choice of weapons, time to practice, and the promise of wealth and freedom if they could survive until the next eclipse of the red moon.

But the hunters held the trump card - no one knew what they looked like. On the day of reckoning the sacred prey were sitting targets - helplessly facing an unknown enemy - an enemy who may take the form of a human, an animal, a monster or even a friend.
